Yankees’ Aaron Judge Weighs In On Jarren Duran’s Incident With Fan

The support for Jarren Duran in Major League Baseball extends beyond the Boston Red Sox clubhouse.

Duran, who has been very outspoken about his battles with mental health, had an incident with a fan at Progressive Field on Sunday afternoon. The fan was ejected for making an unacceptable remark at the star outfielder, who opened up about his 2022 suicide attempt in the Red Sox’s new Netflix docuseries.

The fan targeting Duran didn’t sit well with Aaron Judge, who got to know the 28-year-old a bit more last summer when they were 2024 American League All-Star teammates.

“Getting to know him a little bit, he’s a great kid,” Judge told NJ.com’s Randy Miller. “He’s got a bright future ahead of him. What a tremendous athlete.

“We all go through our struggles in life, our ups and downs. For Jarren to prevail and still be doing what he loves to do, I definitely feel for what he’s gone through and what he had to go through on Sunday. You can boo and you can say whatever you want about performance, but what happened in Cleveland is taking it too far.”

While Duran himself understandably was miffed by the fan’s “inappropriate” comment, he was very appreciative of all of the support he received. And as his mental health journey continues, Duran surely can find comfort in knowing he has so many of his colleagues in his corner, including the game’s best like Judge.
