Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has reached his third successive Wimbledon final, with world No. 1 Jannik Sinner awaiting him in a mouthwatering rematch of last month’s instant classic at the French Open.
Alcaraz won the men’s singles title at Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024, and defeated Sinner in five epic sets at the Roland Garros climax last month.
Today he beat U.S. fifth seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6) in his semifinal, while Sinner will play in his first career Wimbledon final after easily dispatching Novak Djokovic.
Sinner rolled through the first two sets and stormed back from 3-0 down in the third, to win 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. The 38-year-old Djokovic appeared limited by the damage done by slipping near the end of his quarterfinal match against Flavio Cobolli on Wednesday.
Ahead of Sunday’s drama, Centre Court will host the women’s singles final tomorrow when U.S. star Amanda Anisimova (13) and Iga Świątek (8) bid for their first Wimbledon title.
