It’s possible Isaiah Bond finds an NFL home by the time you’re done reading this. The frenzy of undrafted free agent signings makes it nearly impossible to stay updated for quite some time until the dust settles following the completion of the 2025 NFL Draft.
That said, it’s both shocking and understandable why Bond is still sitting there unemployed (for now) in the first place.
Bond is a young and talented wide receiver prospect who profiles as a potential early-round selection in this year’s draft class. An elite deep threat with world-class speed (he hit 24 miles per hour at the NFL Combine), Bond’s ability to stretch defenses was showcased at the highest levels of college football—at both Alabama and Texas—which is why he was projected to potentially be a top 50 pick.
Even with world-class speed, Isaiah Bond’s serious allegations keep him off the Chiefs’ radar.
Seven rounds later—comprising 257 official selections and scores of rookie free agent signings—Bond remains available to any team.
The problem, and this is the understandable part, is that Bond has sexual assault charges hanging overhead. Even if a team like the Kansas City Chiefs wanted to add his potential to the wide receiver room, the pitfalls that come with legal issues and character concerns aren’t worth the effort at this point—at least not until it’s resolved.
Shortly before the NFL Draft, on April 10, Bond turned himself in to the authorities in Frisco, Texas, who had a warrant out for his arrest for sexual assault. The police report states the incident occurred in a meet-up between the victim and Bond while in the area to train for the NFL Draft. Per the victim’s statement, Bond asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement and then offered her money. More details of the report are available here.
Bond has maintained his innocence and released the following statement:
A statement from Isaiah Bond:
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false. I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the… https://t.co/aGgFhuop9o

Once the news leaked, Bond’s draft stock was bound to take a tumble. As it turns out, all 32 NFL teams removed him from their draft boards complete.
The Chiefs have dealt with the public relations concerns around disturbing investigations before, from allegations made against Tyreek Hill to assault charges filed against Kareem Hunt to the recent felony charges for reckless driving against Rashee Rice. The Chiefs have often exhibited patience in such matters to wait for the legal process to play out, but those players were always already on the team’s active roster.
While it’s possible an NFL team might want to beat others to the punch and roll the dice to sign Bond in case he’s telling the truth, it’s more likely that the situations far too volatile for any team, including the Chiefs, to touch. Bond might be talented, but some signings aren’t worth the effort.
