- John Haliburton approached Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court after the Pacers beat the Bucks.
Charles Barkley knows what he would have done if confronted by John Haliburton.
“There’s no way in hell I wouldn’t have clocked his (butt),” Barkley said Wednesday on the “Dan Patrick Show.” “I ain’t trying to be no fake tough guy on television. There’s no way I wouldn’t have punched him in the face if he did what he did.”
Haliburton walked onto the court from his baseline seat moments after his son, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, hit the winning basket in a wild 119-118 overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 5, clinching their NBA playoff series. The elder Haliburton held up a towel bearing his son’s image about 5 feet in front of Giannis Antetokounmpo, talking trash. The two came nose-to-nose before others intervened.
Both Haliburtons apologized for the altercation that Antetokounmpo considered disrespectful.
“It was like AAU crap,” Barkley said, praising Antetokounmpo’s restraint in the moment. “You know how much I hate AAU. These parents think they can scream their kids to the NBA. It drives me flat crazy.”

So what should happen with John Haliburton when the Pacers host the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference semifinals? The first two games are in Cleveland, with Games 3 and 4 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, likely over the May 9-11 weekend. The schedule has yet to be released.
“I don’t think he should be executed, but he shouldn’t come to the next two games at home. I think that would be fair,” Barkley said, adding he isn’t sure what an appropriate punishment would be, and that he’s glad the Haliburtons apologized.
