With its seeding already locked up in the SEC tournament, Auburn men’s basketball looks to keep it rolling in the final week of the men’s college basketball regular season.
Fresh off their win over Kentucky, the top-ranked Tigers (27-2, 15-1 in SEC) close out their final road trip of the regular season with a trip over to College Station, Texas to take on No. 22 Texas A&M (20-9, 9-7) at 9 p.m. ET inside Reed Arena.
The win over the Wildcats not only marked the first win at Rupp Arena in 37 years for the Tigers, but also put Auburn one win away from setting a single-season program record for most SEC wins at 16, which it can set with a win on Tuesday. Johni Broome leads Auburn in scoring at 18.4 points per game, which is third best in the SEC.

Texas A&M has been on a skid of late, as the Aggies have dropped four straight games — which includes a loss to unranked Vanderbilt at home — after opening the month of February with four straight wins. Wade Taylor IV leads the Aggies in scoring at 15.1 points per game, which ranks 16th in the SEC.
Buzz Williams’ team’s late February skid has them at a projected No. 3 or No.4 seed in the latest NCAA Tournament projections, including USA TODAY’s. While the task will be a tall one, Texas A&M will look to lean on its past against Auburn and Bruce Pearl under Williams (5-2 record) to improve its SEC and NCAA Tournament seedings.

The biggest factor in this one will be Auburn’s approach to it. Do the Tigers take this game to rest their best? Does Denver Jones sit out the week after picking up a bone bruise in Lexington? Neither would be a shock if they happened. But after blowing out Kentucky without its biggest star stepping up, Auburn appears to be shifting into a new gear. And with a struggling bunch of Aggies on the other bench, there’s plenty of potential for another blowout.
Tony Catalina, Austin American-Statesman: Auburn 85, Texas A&M 70
“Buzz Williams will always have his team ready to play, and in the final game in Reed Arena on senior night, there is little doubt the Aggies will come to play. However, sometimes you may just be outmatched, and with A&M reeling right now, they may be welcoming a buzz-saw in the Auburn Tigers. Auburn is far too efficient and talented to pick against it right now.”
