Three federal buildings in Western Pennsylvania could soon be up for sale as part of a new phase of President Trump’s campaign to shrink the federal government. The Trump administration posted a list of hundreds of federal properties Tuesday that could be up for sale, including the William S. Moorhead building along Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh, and the Social Security office on Station Street in East Liberty. In addition, the list mentions the Social Security Administration building located in Greensburg near Seton Hill College. “We are identifying buildings and facilities that are not core to government operations, or non-core properties for disposal,” the U.S. General Services Administration website read pertaining to the list of federal properties that could be impacted. “Selling ensures that taxpayer dollars are no longer spent on vacant or underutilized federal spaces. Disposing of these assets helps eliminate costly maintenance and allows us to reinvest in high-quality work environments that support agency missions.”To view which buildings throughout the state and country could be impacted, visit www.gsa.gov.
