(TNND) — Veteran voice actor and comedian George Low has died at the age of 67.
Lowe is best known for his role as the voice of Space Ghost on the animated series, Space Ghost Coast to Coast.
Long time friend and broadcaster Marvin Boone revealed the news in a post to Facebook where he said that Lowe died from a long illness.
“I’m beyond devastated,” Boone wrote. “My Zobanian brother and best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness. A part of me had also died. He was a supremely talented Artist and Voice actor. A true warm hearted Genius. Funniest man on Earth too. I’ve stolen jokes from him for decades. He stole some of mine. He was also the voice of Space Ghost and so much more. Pweeloto.”
A Florida native, Lowe started his career at 15-years-old working at a local radio station.
Throughout the 1980s to mid 1990s, he did occasional voice-over work for TBWS and Cartoon Network before landing his signature role on Space Ghost in 1994.
Lowe continued voicing Space Ghost in spinoffs such as Cartoon Planet and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
His most recent reprisal of the role was February 2024 in an episode of Max’s Jellystone.
On Tuesday, Adult Swim posted a picture of Lowe on their Instagram with the caption: ‘RIP George Lowe,’ followed by a quote from his famous character.
“I was dead long before you were born, and I’ll be dead long before you’re dead,” the quote reads.
