Tropical Chantal heading toward the Carolinas, some heavy rain likely in parts of the Piedmont Triad, July 5 Update

Tropical Storm Chantal is aiming for the South Carolina coast and is forecast to turn Northeast on it’s track through North Carolina. Sunday becomes cloudy across the Piedmont Triad with scattered showers possible early morning. Heavy rounds of tropical rain may impact the eastern Piedmont Triad during late afternoon and evening. Peak heavy rain timing is 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the current tropical forecast track for Chantal. Rain and storms may cause localized flooding with most thunderstorms producing gusts between 20-30 mph, but severe storms are not anticipated.
