During the verbal in-ring exchange between John Cena and Randy Orton on Friday’s WWE SmackDown, Orton challenged Cena for the Undisputed Championship on the show. Cena accepted Orton’s challenge. However, Cena said he would not put the title on the line on Friday’s show, but that it would be at Backlash in St. Louis, which is Orton’s hometown.
Cena told Orton to spend the whole day with his family, be well rested and at to be at his best, because he needs Orton at his best and that after Backlash, when Orton fails, Orton will have no excuses. Cena tossed the title at Orton, which caused him to go down. Cena then attacked Orton. Cena grabbed the belt. Orton then got up and ducked a title belt shot and hit Cena with an RKO. Orton held up the title from the second rope to end the segment.
