Production on Ted Lasso season 4 has officially begun.

Apple TV+ announced on Monday, July 21, that production on the highly anticipated fourth season has kicked off in star Jason Sudeikis‘ hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

The streamer also shared a first-look photo of Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Sudeikis as the show’s titular soccer coach to mark the occasion.

In the photo, the AFC Richmond fab four are sitting in a cozy corner booth of what appears to be a classic American diner, with everyone looking lovingly at Ted.

In addition to the foursome in the new image, Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) will be back for the upcoming season.

Newcomers include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern in roles that have yet to be revealed.

Grant Feely also joins the cast as Ted’s son Henry, replacing Gus Turner who played the character for the first three seasons.

Though Ted Lasso season 3 ended with Ted returning home to coach his son’s soccer team after departing AFC Richmond as head coach, he’s headed back to the United Kingdom.

“Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team,” reads a synopsis for season 4. “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

This seems to be the AFC Richmond women’s team Keeley proposed to Rebecca in the season 3 finale.

“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,'” Sudeikis said in a press release at the time. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to ‘leap before they look,’ discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Speculation on the show’s future had been rampant in the fandom since Ted Lasso ended its third season in 2023.

Ted Lasso has won two Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series and actors Sudeikis, Waddingham and Goldstein all took home Emmys for their work on the series.
