DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — We’ve obtained new details in the incident that left Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler suffering from extreme burns after a suspect reportedly dumped gas on him and set him on fire.
On Wednesday, we reported on the burning attack off Main Street in Danville, where the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes, forced his way into the office where Vogler was. Officials said Buck-Hayes poured gas on Vogler, and although the councilman tried to get away, Hayes reportedly set him on fire.
Vogler was airlifted to UNC Chapel Hill’s burn unit. According to audio obtained by ABC13 News from first responders, Vogler received third-degree burns to 63% of his body, including his torso, arms, and a leg. His condition is still unknown.
