Steelers listed among favorites to land Micah Parsons in trade with Cowboys

Yes, the Pittsburgh Steelers need Micah Parsons.

And so does every team in the NFL. Parsons is a unicorn who is not only one of the best defenders in the league, but one of the best players in the NFL entirely.

Parsons has requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys after the relationship between the two sides has “deteriorated” amid contract talks that have now stalled.

In the wake of that, The Draft Network’s Jamie Eisner shared the betting odds for Parsons’ next team, and the Steelers were given the second-best of those listed.

Here’s a look at the top five:

Can you imagine a defensive front with Parsons, T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward? Just shut the league down if that happens.

Interestingly enough, during an interview in 2024, Parsons dad actually listed the Steelers as one of the teams he would want to see his son traded to.

“I know Pittsburgh fans are like, ‘whoa,’ but I’m sorry, him [Micah Parsons] and [T.J.] Watt together would be like cheating,” Terrence Parsons stated. “Him and [Aidan] Hutchinson together in Detroit would be like cheating. I love it. Kansas City, that’s who they are right now.”

That said, as exciting as it is to think of Parsons playing in Pittsburgh, we wouldn’t bet on that happening. In fact, we wouldn’t bet on him playing for any other team besides the Cowboys.

We’ve already seen this story before with the Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett. It looked like a sure thing that Garrett would be dealt after he requested a trade, but then Cleveland backed up the Brinks truck and all was well.

If the inept Browns found a way to avoid that kind of disaster, the Cowboys should be able to, also.

As capable as Jerry Jones is of screwing this up, there’s just no way he’s going to let his best player go. Parsons is crucial to the Cowboys’ success and it’s inevitable that Jones will cave to whatever Parsons is looking for in order to get this done and avoid turning himself into a laughingstock.

We know, that’s not the fun outlook you might be looking for, but it’s the most realistic one.
