On an otherwise quiet trade deadline day in San Francisco, the Giants reportedly snuck in a few deals just before 3 p.m. buzzer.

The Giants are sending former All-Star closer Camilo Doval to the New York Yankees, according to multiple reports. YES Network’s Jack Curry was first to report.

San Francisco is also trading veteran outfielder Mike Yastrzemski to the Kansas City Royals, according to multiple reports. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand was first to report.

According to Curry and Fansided reporter Robert Murray, the Giants are receiving four prospects for Doval: pitchers Trystan Vrieling and Carlos de la Rosa, catcher Jesus Rodriguez and infielder Parks Harber. According to MLB.com’s rankings, Vrieling was the No. 17 prospect in the Yankees system and Rodriguez was the No. 25 prospect.

Doval was a revelation as a rookie for the Giants in 2021, helping firm up the bullpen in their charge to 107 wins and taking home the NL West title. He was a dominant closer for two more seasons after that, including earning an All-Star nod in 2023. But Doval had a rocky 2024 that saw him get demoted to Triple-A briefly. But after those struggles, he recovered in 2025, re-earned the closer role and became the subject of trade speculation in recent days as the Giants faltered on the field.

The return for Yastrzemski hasn’t been reported as of 3:30 p.m. The Giants also traded reliever Tyler Rogers to the Mets on Wednesday. As of now, they did not trade off pending free agents Wilmer Flores and Justin Verlander.
