A severe thunderstorm warning with potentially damaging winds is in effect for portions of Southwestern Pennsylvania including sections of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Washingtonand Fayette counties.
The National Weather Service indicated wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible. The warning is set to expire at 6:30 p.m.
Affected areas include Latrobe, Mt. Pleasant, Scottdale, West Newton, New Stanton, Monessen and Uniontown.
The weather service reported at 5:30 p.m. that the storm was moving east from Donora at about 65 mph.
It said snapped and uprooted trees and power outages can be expected.
