Here’s the full Managing Madrid Player Ratings for Real Madrid’s 3–2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the 2025 Club World Cup Quarter-finals
Starters
Thibaut Courtois: 9
Could do nothing about the two goals conceded and came up with a miraculous save in stoppage time to deny extra time. Once again proved his big-game pedigree.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7
Still not at peak physical levels, and it showed in some of his defensive plays. But he made up for it with a perfect assist on Madrid’s second goal. His attacking quality is elite — it just needs the fitness to match.
Antonio Rüdiger: 5
Started strong but unraveled a bit after halftime. His poor clearance led to Dortmund’s first goal and he was less composed as the game grew chaotic.
Dean Huijsen: 7.5
One of Madrid’s best players on the night — until the red card. Dominant in duels, calm on the ball, and even contributed to the attack. But the late penalty and dismissal put a stain on an otherwise superb performance. A massive loss for the semi-final.
Fran Garcia: 9
A reborn fullback under Xabi Alonso. Relentless energy, sharp crossing, and a well-taken goal. Deservedly named Man of the Match. His chemistry with Arda and Gonzalo was a joy to watch.
Aurélien Tchouaméni: 8
Positionally perfect and unshakeable under pressure. His defensive presence was vital in keeping Dortmund’s midfield quiet for long spells.
Fede Valverde: 7.5
A silent engine. Registered a game-high four interceptions and kept things ticking. Not flashy, but absolutely essential.
Jude Bellingham: 7.5
Pressed relentlessly, carried the ball out of danger with class, and helped Madrid win midfield duels. Needed better execution in transition moments, but still a very good display.
Arda Güler: 9
Two assists — both works of art — and constantly played progressive passes between lines. Growing into a star before our eyes.
Vinicius Jr: 6
Not his most involved game, but his wide presence gave Fran room to operate. Still looks far from peak form.
Gonzalo Garcia: 8.5
His movement is elite, and his finish for the opening goal was full of class. A natural-born goalscorer who continues to rise.
