Justin Rose birdied the 18th hole on the third playoff hole to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship PGA Tour tournament on Aug. 10 at TPC Southwind.

Rose birdied 18 on the second and third times in the sudden-death playoff, while Spaun birdied 18 on the second playoff hole but missed on the third.

Rose birdied four holes in a row, holes 14 through 17, to tie for the lead heading to the 18th hole. The 45-year old Englishman missed a 13-footer for birdie to win the tournament, forcing the playoff.

Spaun surged in the middle of the round to get into the mix, then completed his round of 65 with birdies on the 16th and 17th holes to get into the clubhouse at 16-under.

Scottie Scheffler finished at 15-under, one shot short of a playoff. Tommy Fleetwood held the lead for the majority of the back nine but fell away from the top with a par on the par-5 16th and a bogey on the 17th hole.
