Officials identify suspect in Kentucky shootings at church and airport

The gunman officials say killed two women and wounded a state trooper in Kentucky on Sunday has been identified as 47-year-old Guy House, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said House shot a Kentucky State Police trooper on a terminal road at Blue Grass Airport at 11:36 a.m. The trooper pulled him over after receiving a license plate reader alert in the area.

The trooper is receiving treatment, Weathers said.

House then allegedly fled the area, and law enforcement caught up with him at Richmond Road Baptist Church about 16 miles away. There, House allegedly also opened fire and hit four people, Weathers said.

Beverly Gumm, 72, and her daughter, Christina Combs, 32, were pronounced dead on the scene, according to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn. Gumm was married to the church’s pastor, public records indicate.

Officers fatally shot House, Weathers confirmed.

Weathers said that preliminary information indicates House “may have had a connection to the individuals at the church.”

A motivation for the shootings remains unclear.
