INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner, the team’s longest tenured player with 10 years of service and the franchise’s all-time leading shot blocker is leaving the Pacers to sign a four-year, $107-million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday.

Charania reported that Turner wanted to stay with the Pacers, but the Pacers were not willing to go into the luxury tax to sign him after All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered an Achilles tendon tear that will likely keep him out all of next season.

The 29-year-old Turner averaged 15.6 points per game this season on 48.1% shooting including a career-best 39.6% 3-point shooting, making a career-high 156 3-pointers. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game, finishing third in the NBA with 144 total blocks behind only San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama and Milwaukee’s Brook Lopez. He surpassed Jermaine O’Neal‘s previous franchise record of 1,245 blocks last season and now has 1,412.

Turner struggled in the Pacers’ NBA Finals loss to the Thunder, averaging just 10.6 points per game on 37.7% shooting including 21.4% from 3-point range to go with just 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. However, he had strong performances in both the first round against the Bucks and the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Cavs, averaging 13.8 points per game on 48.4% shooting including 34.4% 3-point shooting for playoffs. He averaged just 4.8 rebounds per game in the postseason but had 2.0 blocks per game and his 46 total blocks were the most of any player in the playoffs.
