Major League Baseball’s trade deadline, slated for July 31 at 6 p.m. ET, is now only a matter of days away. Teams are, in turn, getting down to business. Several deals have been consummated in recent days, and things heated up on Wednesday. On Deadline Eve, NL East contenders bulked up their bullpens as the Phillies added Twins closer Jhoan Duran and the Mets picked up Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley. Later that night, the Mariners made a big move, adding slugging third baseman Eugenio Suárez from the Diamondbacks.
More swaps are certain to occur before Thursday evening, with the Arizona Diamondbacks in particular viewed as a seller to keep watching. Starting pitchers Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen remain available after the Suárez deal. CBS Sports has handily ranked the top 30 trade candidates.
