Brandon Woodruff had barely stepped off the mound when he was hit with the stat: the Milwaukee Brewers had just reached 60 wins, riding their 11th victory in a row and holding the top record in the National League.
His response? Not surprise.

“We’ve got a great group in here,” Woodruff said. “It’s fun. Every year feels different, but this one’s special.”
The veteran righty was sharp again on Monday night, tossing six scoreless innings while giving up just two hits in a 6-0 win over the Mariners. Milwaukee didn’t just blank Seattle , they also showcased the depth and balance that’s kept them afloat all season, even after big-name departures last winter.

Gone are former stars like Corbin Burnes, Devin Williams, and Willy Adames. But the Brewers keep finding ways to win.

Much of that credit goes to a pitching staff that has delivered steady results despite early-season injuries. While Woodruff worked his way back from offseason shoulder surgery, arms like Quinn Priester filled the gaps. Milwaukee now owns one of the league’s top team ERAs.
Woodruff talked about how the front office assembled a strong locker room.
“You get guys who genuinely enjoy playing together, and this is what happens,” he said.
The team’s success has been powered by more than just pitching. Brice Turang leads all Brewers position players in WAR. Rookie Jackson Chourio continues to impress in the outfield. Freddy Peralta has emerged as the team’s ace, becoming the first pitcher in the majors to reach 12 wins this season.

It’s a new-look group, but one that continues to follow a winning formula that’s worked for years. Milwaukee has captured four division titles since 2018 and is on pace for another, all without the star-studded payrolls of their rivals.
Pat Murphy, last year’s NL Manager of the Year, knows the team isn’t done yet. The trade deadline looms, and the Brewers have options to improve. But Murphy isn’t interested in relaxing just because it’s July.
“There’s more work ahead,” he said. “Drop your guard, and this game can punch you in the mouth.”
The Brewers have two more in Seattle before coming home for the first time in the second hald of the season.
