Alabama men’s basketball is not trending in the right direction, but not all hope is lost for March Madness.
The Crimson Tide is fresh off a loss to No. 5 Florida 99-94 on Wednesday at Coleman Coliseum. It marked the fourth loss in six games.
No. 7 Alabama (23-7, 12-5 SEC) still sits in a prime position for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, however. The Crimson Tide’s resume is that strong.
Alabama closes the regular season with a game against No. 1 Auburn on Saturday (1:30 p.m., ESPN) at Neville Arena. Heading into the game, here is where the latest bracketologists see the Crimson Tide playing in March Madness.
CBS: No. 2 seed in East region
Jerry Palm predicts Alabama will stay on the No. 2 seed line, even after the loss to Florida. Meanwhile, Florida moved up to a No. 1 seed along with Auburn, Duke and Houston.
Palm specifically predicts Alabama will face No. 15 seed Norfolk State in Wichita, Kansas, with the winner advancing to face either No. 7 seed BYU or No. 10 seed Indiana in the Round of 32.
If Alabama wins those games, they’d play in Newark, New Jersey in the Sweet 16/Elite Eight at Seton Hall from March 27-29.
ESPN: No. 2 seed in East region
Joe Lunardi shared his latest seeding projections Thursday morning, which mirrored Palm’s. Alabama is the No. 6 overall seed and still a No. 2 seed in Lunardi’s projections, even after the loss to Florida. Tennessee joins the Crimson Tide on the No. 2 seed line as No. 1 seed Florida moves up.
Prior to the loss to Florida, Alabama was slotted to play in the Midwest region, starting in Raleigh and advancing potentially to Indianapolis for the Sweet 16/Elite Eight.
