Madrid eliminated from Club World Cup

Real Madrid were beaten by PSG in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. The French team took advantage of two defensive errors to take a 2-0 lead before the 10th minute. In the 6th minute, Fabián scored from inside the box. And three minutes later, Dembélé slotted past Courtois when one-on-one with the keeper.

Everything went against the Whites in the opening exchanges and after 20 minutes PSG’s third goal arrived, scored by Fabián after a swift counter-attack. The scoreline remained the same going into the break. After the restart, Madrid came out in search of a goal and almost reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute with a shot from Mbappé from the edge of the area that went over. Valverde‘s strike in the 72nd minute struck Beraldo as the ball was heading towards goal.

More danger came from set pieces. Modrić, in his last game for Real Madrid, swung in a corner and Militão, returning to action after eight months on the sidelines, missed the target with his header. In the 71st minute Carvajal reappeared after 9 months out through injury. In the 86th minute, Militão tried again with a shot from the edge of the area that was blocked by Donnarumma and two minutes later Gonçalo Ramos made it 4-0.
