The 2025 NFL Draft saw 257 players selected across seven rounds — but even still, there was not enough room for everyone, as several high-profile players did not get selected over the three-day event in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond was among the undrafted. Once a four-star prospect and an Alabama Crimson Tide commit, the speedy Bond transferred to Texas for the 2024 season and helped the Longhorns return to the College Football Playoff. Bond’s ability to stretch defenses with his quickness sparked suggestion that he could be picked within the first two rounds of the 2025 draft.
Dez Bryant certainly thought that would be the case. In a post to X on Friday, the former Dallas Cowboys star questioned why Bond, San Jose State receiver Nick Nash, and Kansas cornerback Cobee Bryant did not get picked.
“Isaiah Bond..Nick Nash..Cobee Bryant going un-drafted is nasty work,” Bryant wrote to his 3.4 million followers.
Nash led all FBS receivers in receptions (104), yards (1,382) and touchdowns (16), while the lockdown corner Bryant ended his NCAA career with three first-team All-Big 12 selections. Bond recorded pedestrian statistics at Texas — 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns — and he is facing a sexual assault allegation that Bryant did not touch on in his X post.
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false,” Bond said via statement earlier this month. “I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation.”
Nevertheless, all 32 NFL teams opted to avoid Bond, while Nash and Bryant both quickly joined the Atlanta Falcons as undrafted free agents after the draft concluded. Bryant and Nash will have chances to prove that teams made a mistake by passing on them; it is hard to see Bond getting that chance at this point in time.
