Irish fans may be particularly interested in the new season of Wednesday, which is set to premiere on Netflix today, 6 August.
While much of the spooky show’s first season was filmed across the gothic backdrop of Romania, it was moved to Ireland for season two.
Principal photography for the second series began in May 2024, with the production being spotted in the counties of Wicklow, Dublin, and Offaly.
Using the incredible settings of Powerscourt Demesne in Enniskerry, Charleville Castle in County Offaly and Dublin’s atmospheric Deansgrange Cemetery, executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar called the locations “truly magical”.
“Coming back to Ireland to shoot season two felt like a homecoming – we have beautiful castles, we have the lush greens,” said Millar.
With around 24% of overseas audiences saying they use TV shows and films as a source of travel inspiration, Tourism Ireland went behind the scenes with Netflix to create two short clips, giving fans a glimpse into the making of season two.
Cast members Jenna Ortega, Joanna Lumley, Luis Guzmán and Joy Sunday shared their favourite moments filming in Ireland – from the scenery to the warm welcome.
Luis Guzmán, who plays Gomez Addams, said: “The landscape here is sensational, so beautiful, so nostalgic.”
Irish locations that were used for filming Wednesday include:
- Ashford Studios
- Powerscourt Demesne
- Trinity College
- Newcastle, County Wicklow
- Charleville Castle
- Deansgrange Cemetery
