South Park kicked off its twenty-seventh season on Wednesday with a controversial Trump-focused episode that has drawn strong backlash from the White House.

In Season 27, Episode 1, titled “Sermon on the ‘Mount,” the fictional town of South Park stages a protest against the president. The episode includes a scene depicting a cartoon version of the president climbing into bed with Satan (a treatment Saddam Hussein received in 1999’s South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut). When Satan rejects him, Trump pleads, “Come on, Satan, I’ve been working hard all day,” before revealing his comically small genitals.

Jesus Christ also reappears in town, explaining that he had to return because of a “lawsuit and an agreement with Paramount,” a likely reference to Paramount’s $16 million settlement with the president. He also mentions the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, joking that South Park could be next since both shows are owned by the same parent company.

“(Trump) can do whatever he wants now that someone backed down,” Jesus says, adding, “You guys saw what happened to CBS? Well, guess who owns CBS? Paramount! You really want to end up like Colbert? … Just shut up, or we’re going to get canceled, you idiots!”

In the clip, a deepfake Trump wanders through the desert and strips naked. “When things heat up, who will deliver us from temptation? Donald J. Trump,” the PSA’s narrator says. “No matter how hot it gets, he’s not afraid to fight for America.”

The White House quickly reacted and condemned the show after the episode aired. “The Left’s hypocrisy truly has no end – for years they have come after South Park for what they labeled as ‘offense’ content, but suddenly they are praising the show,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers wrote in a statement to Variety. “Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”
