Here’s What’s Going On With Hannah Berner Being Accused Of “Microaggressions” During Her Interview With Megan Thee Stallion

An interview with Megan Thee Stallion is going viral, adding another notable entry to the influencers-as-interviewers canon.

Basically, Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner were this year’s Vanity Fair red carpet correspondents for their famous Oscars afterparty. They’ve both spent time on Summer House, but Hannah in particular is known for her comedy work — including a hit Netflix special.

On the livestream of the event — which was then posted to TikTok — the duo spoke to the rapper, and things took a turn for the awkward. I’m going to transcribe what’s said, but as a heads up, just note that Paige and Hannah kept talking over one another and Megan.

“I start my day with you,” Paige began, before Hannah said, “Really? I’m going to cry.” As her cohost told her not to cry, Megan said, “This is a livestream.”

Hannah then said, “When I want to fight someone, I listen to your music.” Megan replied, “You want to throw that fighting shit out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad bitch.”

Hannah enthusiastically then said, “When people are talking shit, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion!’” Megan once again brushed off the nod to violence and said, “Body-ody-ody, I look beautiful, I look so great.”

Hannah then took a hard turn and talked about how Megan had been “through so many dark things” and asked her how she inspires people. Megan replied, “I just look in the mirror like, ‘Damn, you that girl. So go outside and act like you that girl.'”

The comments were filled with people questioning why Hannah would characterize Megan’s music as “fighting” music, dubbing the moment an example of a “microaggression.”

Plus, it’s worth emphasizing that Megan herself became a very public victim of violence after Tory Lanez shot her in the foot in 2020.

We’ll keep you posted if Hannah issues a statement on the whole thing.
