Game 108 Preview: Tigers welcome Diamondbacks for 3-game weekday series

The Detroit Tigers have been slumping hard since before the All-Star break and continued their losing ways against the Toronto Blue Jays at home this weekend, dropping the series three games to one. The good news is that they managed to earn a win in the final game, 10-4, hopefully providing some momentum heading into the next series.

On Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks arrive in town for a three-game set and the second half of the homestand. ‘Zona comes in having split its last 10 games, but has just one win in its last six matchups — a 1-0 road win at the Pittsburgh Pirates, dropping them to fourth in the National League West and 10 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Overall, the Tigers are 2.5 games behind the Blue Jays for the best record in baseball and still command an MLB-best 8-game lead in the American League Central over the second-place Cleveland Guardians. Their run differential of plus-62 is now seventh-best in baseball.

To open up the series, Detroit sends Troy Melton to the mound for his second-ever MLB appearance while Arizona has old friend Eduardo Rodriguez taking the bump. Here is how they match up.
