Former Chicago Bears first-round quarterback Justin Fields was injured during a Thursday morning practice, getting off to a rough start with the New York Jets.
Fields, who was traded from Chicago to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, signed a two-year deal with the Jets this offseason and was in line to be their starting quarterback coming into training camp.

On Thursday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Fields had suffered a dislocated toe, an injury that caused Fields to be carted out of practice, but a timeline for his return was unknown.
With Fields down and out with the injury, the Jets are likely to turn to veteran Tyrod Taylor, who was also signed this offseason to be the top backup. It’s another unfortunate moment for Fields in his young career as he was benched last season as the Steelers starter in favor of veteran Russell Wilson, even after Fields impressed early on in Pittsburgh.
Looking to stick with a team as their long-term answer at quarterback, Fields will need to get back on the field for New York if he wants to state his case this season.
