Oscar Piastri has been denied victory in the Formula 1 British Grand Prix after being handed a 10-second penalty for a safety car infringement.
Piastri’s McLaren teammate Lando Norris too the chequered flag in front of his home crowd, 6.8 seconds ahead of the Australian.

No surprise there.
Oscar Piastri had a 13-second lead before a safety car was called because the track was deemed unsafe.
The 10-second penalty for braking too hard under the safety car has ended his chance of winning this race.

Lando Norris leads Oscar Piastri by five seconds.
The Brit just needs to keep the car on the track.
Nico Hulkenberg is still in third, and in on the verge of his maiden podium in grand prix number 239.

Oscar Piastri had a moment in Maggots and Becketts and needed the escape road.
He has told the team, if McLaren believes his penalty was unfair, he should be allowed to win the race.
I don’t think McLaren would make that call, or Norris would even entertain it.

Lando Norris pits for slicks.
It is a clean stop, and he emerges with the race lead.
Oscar Piastri is 5.4 seconds behind Norris.

Lando Norris leads the race and barring a horror stop, he will surely win the race.

Oscar Piastri has been told “not to make it too difficult” is Lando Norris goes for an overtake.
Piastri leads by 1.5 seconds.
A bunch of drivers have dived into the pits for slick tyres.
Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll are among them.

Mercedes driver George Russell has had a massive spin through the fast Maggots and Becketts combination.
Mercedes had just put slick tyres on that car.

He has just passed Lance Stroll and is in third.
He is under threat now from Lewis Hamilton, who also overtook Stroll.

The track is drying, but not quickly enough according to Oscar Piastri.
“It’s drying, but very slowly. Still not close to slicks.”
His lead is down to 2.3 seconds.

Oscar Piastri has a 3.8-second lead over Lando Norris.
It is certainly not enough, with a 10-second penalty coming his way at the next pit stop.
Piastri does have an 18-second lead ahead of third-place Land Stroll, which is important.
