Everything Justin Bieber Said About Hailey and His Son Jack on His New Album

Is Justin Bieber’s album about Hailey Bieber?

Justin’s surprise album, SWAG, was released on July 11, and in the 12 hours since it dropped, fans and journalists (hi, hello) have taken to scanning his lyrics for “clues” about his relationship with his wife, Hailey, as well as his feelings about new parenthood. (He and Hailey welcomed a baby boy, Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.) His first album since 2021’s Justice, SWAG is a raw, intimate portrait of Bieber’s life over the past few years—including a few candid interlude conversations with actor and comedian Druski about fame, social media, and, for some reason, Black & Milds.

Here’s our big disclaimer that SWAG should not be taken as the Rosetta Stone of Justin and Hailey Bieber’s relationship. This is not an ancient text that will unlock new and juicy details about the tabloids’ favorite couple, and I urge fans to remember that before reading into anything, or begin wildly speculating about Justin’s relationship, his mental state, or his infant son. This is an art project, not a documentary. Remember that, folks.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s dive into the reason you’re all here: All the times Justin Bieber referenced Hailey Bieber or their son Jack on his album.

Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber: A Complete Relationship Timeline

From a surprise engagement to a baby.

“DAISIES”

This song is pretty clearly about Hailey, as Justin references the couple’s vows in the first verse. Like a few other songs on the album, it appears to reference some tension in the relationship, which might be made more difficult by distance: “You said ‘forever’ babe did you mean it or not/ You leave me on read, babe, but I still get the message/ Instead of a line, it’s three dots, but I can connect them.”

“GO BABY”

This is very much a hype song for Hailey, and in case you were wondering if there was even the slightest possibility it was about anyone else—like his literal baby, for example—Justin clears the air in the first verse: “That’s my baby, she’s iconic, iPhone case, lip gloss on it.” Rather sweetly, Bieber seems to acknowledge the hate his wife receives (she’s been dragged into too many “dramas” to count), calling it “comedy” and reminding her that he’ll be there for her, “Sunday to Sunday.” Aww.

“WAY IT IS”

“WAY IT IS” is a collaboration with Gunna, who sings on one verse, “I get you Hermès, the Croc (Yeah), ’cause it’s whatever for you.” It’s unclear if this line was written by Bieber or by Gunna, though I’m guessing the latter, since Hailey isn’t known for toting around crocodile leather Birkin bag (she does own at least one Birkin, but it’s light blue).

“WALKING AWAY”

Yep, another song about his marriage! Bieber clearly references his wife in the chorus, singing, “You were my diamond/ Gave you a ring.” The sentiment is sweet, but also appears to reference some tumultuous times. At the end of the day, though, Bieber “ain’t walking away” from his relationship.

“DEVOTION”

A particularly horny slow jam (love this for them), however it stands out among the rest of the horny slow jams on SWAG because it was the song that Justin used to score his and Hailey’s vowel renewal video, where they also announced Hailey’s pregnancy.

“DADZ LOVE”

As the title implies, this is a cute song about Justin’s love for his son. He doesn’t sing anything specifically about his relationship with his son Jack (in fact, he mostly just sings “dad’s love” over and over), but it’s sweet. Could this song also be about our sky daddy, a.k.a. God? Justin has never been one to hide his faith, so it’s possible there may be layered meaning here.
