Elon Musk has said an Axios report that the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had concluded there was no evidence of a Jeffrey Epstein client list was the “final straw.”
The report also said the agencies had concluded there was no credible evidence the disgraced financier and pedophile blackmailed high-profile and prominent individuals, and confirmed that surveillance footage showed Epstein had killed himself in prison.
It comes amid a renewal of the feud between billionaire Tesla CEO Musk and U.S. President Donald Trump, who were political allies until recently.
The two men dramatically fell out over Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, and a claim by Musk that Trump was not releasing the Epstein files because his name was in them. Musk later said he had gone too far with the remark.
“So… umm… then what is Ghislaine Maxwell in prison for?” Musk posted to his X platform, referring to Epstein’s former girlfriend and associate who procured underage girls for him to abuse.
“Stuff like this does not improve people’s faith in government.”

Epstein Files Delay
Trump and his allies promised to release the Epstein case files in full amid suspicions of a cover-up about the latter’s illicit sexual activities and the involvement of powerful people.
But delays to their release, and now the conclusion that Epstein was not blackmailing people or maintaining a related client list, have angered many Trump supporters, who expected a different outcome. Some believed he had been murdered while awaiting trial.
In February, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, responding to a question on Fox News about Epstein’s alleged client list, had said it was “sitting on my desk right now to review.”
Musk posted a meme showing the Trump administration’s evolving position on the issue, ending with: “There is no Epstein list.”
“This is the final straw,” Musk wrote in reply to another user of X, formerly Twitter.
Elon Musk Touts New America Party
Musk earlier said he planned to form a new America Party for the 2026 midterms, which would target a handful of winnable Senate and House seats in an attempt to control the balance of power in Congress and break the two-party domination of U.S. politics.
“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump posted to his Truth Social platform on Sunday, July 6.
“He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – The System seems not designed for them.
“The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”
