After 21 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. She posed on the red carpet with her husband and two of their kids, 15-year-old Stella and 8-year-old Eli.

It was a rare public appearance for the family, whom Pompeo doesn’t publicly discuss often. Her husband of nearly two decades, Chris Ivery, is a music producer. Their 10-year-old daughter, Sienna, missed the event, but Pompeo gave her a shoutout while the family posed for pictures: “Everybody say ‘Sienna’ because she’s not here!” she said, per People.

In a speech at the ceremony, Pompeo thanked her family and her team, whom she called “stars” in their own right. “This doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen easily — it takes a village,” she said. She also thanked Shonda Rhimes, who she said supported her in balancing acting with parenting. “Shonda allowed me to have a career and get paid and be a mother,” Pompeo said.

Rhimes also spoke at the ceremony, calling Pompeo a “living, breathing icon.” She added that she and Pompeo “started in TV together, we realized success together, we found our power as women in the industry together, and we built Meredith Grey together.” Here’s to 21 more seasons!
