Eagles NFL Draft 2025 live updates: Latest news, analysis of Round 1. Best trade partners

PHILADELPHIA − The NFL Draft is finally upon us, and even though the Eagles are drafting at the end of the first round, there is plenty of intrigue.

Not only with whom the Eagles will pick, but whether they’ll move up, back, or stay at No. 32 to make that pick.

The draft is rich with defensive linemen, and there should be a good one left at No. 32 out of a group consisting of Shemar Stewart, James Pearce, Walter Nolen or Donovan Ezeiruaku. But there’s also a safety in Georgia’s Malaki Starks, who could technically start right away next to Reed Blankenship.

Follow along as the night goes on to see where the draft is falling for the Eagles’ first-round pick

Eagles’ best 1st-round trade-up partners

Eagles GM Howie Roseman has never been afraid to make a trade in the draft. Last year, he made eight, for example.

The Eagles are armed with eight draft picks − all in the first five rounds − and as many as 12 next year. So Roseman has the ways and means to trade up.

Here are the best options:

  • Vikings at No. 24: Minnesota only has four picks in the draft, so the Vikings would certainly be amenable to trading back and getting extra picks. The Eagles might have to move up here for someone like Nolen.
  • Rams at No. 26: The Eagles might have to move up here, ahead of the Ravens at No. 27, in order to get Starks. The Eagles could possibly sweeten the deal by including TE Dallas Goedert.
  • Ravens at No. 27: The Eagles could move up here for one of the defensive linemen, whether it’s Pearce, Ezeiruaka or Stewart.

Eagles could trade back with these teams

Sure, the Eagles have a plethora of picks. But Roseman could trade back, get more picks, then use those picks to move up in a particular round for a player they want.

  • Browns at No. 33: If the Browns don’t take a QB at No. 2, and there’s one they like still available at the end of the first round, it would be an advantage to get that QB in the first round because of the fifth-year option.
  • Giants at No. 34: The Giants are in the same boat as the Browns, looking for a QB who could be available at the end of the first round. The Giants, of course, would also have to get ahead of the Browns. Here, the Eagles could also get one of their coveted defensive linemen.
  • Saints at No. 40: Ex-Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore could be seeking a QB at the end of the first round if they don’t take one at No. 9. This would be a better trade for the Eagles in compensation, who could take LSU tight end Mason Taylor here.
