Does ‘Superman’ Have a Post-Credit Scene?

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Superman.”

Superman is back on the big screen to defend humankind from all evils, including tech billionaire Lex Luthor.

James Gunn is bringing the Man of Steel to a new generation in “Superman,” which hit theaters on July 11 and stars David Corenswet in the dual role of Superman and Clark Kent.

The film follows an already-established Superman as he tries to put a stop to Lex (Nicholas Hoult), who has created a slew of villains and tries to convince government officials that Superman must be destroyed. With the help of Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), the Justice Gang and his naughty four-legged friend, Krypo, Superman tries to clear his name and save the world.

“I have a special place in my heart for Superman,” director and writer Gunn tells TODAY.com. “I’ve loved Superman since I was a kid. I love the character, and I wanted to do right by that character, and right by the legacy of Superman and (co-creators) Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and DC Comics.”

So when crafting the movie, Gunn wanted to include extra moments that fans could enjoy, while also celebrating the people who worked on the film.

Many superhero films are known to have post-credit scenes that tease future storylines.

Is there a post-credit scene at the end of ‘Superman’?

Yes, there is a post-credit scene in “Superman.”

There is another post-credit scene after all the credits role.

After Lex and his gang almost split the entire city of Metropolis in two, Superman and Mister Terrific help restore it back together. In the scene, both superheroes look at the cracked building, with Superman judging how it doesn’t line up and Mister Terrific appearing to get peeved.

What does the post-credit scene say about the future of the ‘Superman’ franchise?

According to Gunn, the post-credit scenes don’t hint at any future storyline.

“I don’t think they say anything about the future. I think they’re just fun things to have at the end of the movie,” Gunn tells TODAY.com. “When I was at Marvel, we would often make big promises with the post-credit scenes and sometimes they didn’t pay off.”

He added, “At DC, I want to give people something who stay, and watch all the hard working people who worked in the credits on the movie.”

He explains that he didn’t want the post-credit scene “to be stuff that’s monumental to see.” Instead, it’s a perk and a way to give thanks and “appreciate everyone who worked on this movie.”

“A VFX artist who’s worked on this movie for months and months and has his name appear for two seconds on the screen, I love that people can read those names,” he says. “There’s people who worked on the movie who don’t even get credit, and all of those people are important to me, and I hope all of them feel that they own a piece of the movie.”
