From a Liverpool standpoint, one of the key features in these opening 25 minutes has been their willingness to play at a much higher tempo than they perhaps did for a lot of last season.
Part of that is Palace’s style of play but it is also the profiles they have added to the team, with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike all thriving in transition-heavy systems in the last two seasons.
It gives Arne Slot options stylistically, particularly in central midfield where Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones could be fighting for two starting berths.
