Tonight’s (Apr. 25) episode of SmackDown kicked off with WWE Champion John Cena making his entrance, only to be immediately interrupted by Randy Orton.
The Viper tried to make sense of this new bizarro world we live in where Cena is the bad guy and Randy is the good guy. He thinks the best way to turn Cena into a better human being is for John to become a parent. John shut down that advice as parent-shaming, and pointed out that he’s spent the last 25 years raising these children in the WWE live audience better than their parents ever could have. He’s sick of these brats, like the six year old that just gave him the middle finger, and that’s why he doesn’t have children.
They moved on to the topic of John’s plan to ruin wrestling forever. Orton said he owes everything he has in his life to pro wrestling and it will be over his dead body that John ruins it all. Cena responded by saying when he retires as the last real champion, it will erase three generations of Orton’s family. That didn’t sit well with Randy, of course.
Orton had enough and wanted a title match right then and there, but Cena countered with a better idea. They should do it on May 10 at Backlash in Randy’s hometown of St. Louis. Orton was on board with that idea, and then dropped Cena with another RKO after the champ tried to take him out:
WWE made the title match official a few minutes later, so the Backlash main event is now set.
