“For consideration, please email [email protected] with your name, a recent photo, and a brief description of yourself,” the casting notice reads.

Bourdain shot to fame with the 2000 publication of “Kitchen Confidential,” a memoir and tell-all about the often-saucy restaurant scene, specifically in Provincetown where he was living and working.

The charismatic Bourdain, who also wrote crime novels in his early days, went on to take viewers around the world with him looking at food and culture in “A Cook’s Tour,” “No Reservations” and “Parts Unknown.” Bourdain ate everything except cats and dogs, because, he said, they were considered pets in his native United States.

Bourdain died by suicide at age 61 in 2018 while filming in France.

After his death, the Cape Cod Times wrote about his early days on Cape Cod, interviewing his roommates and colleagues in Provincetown. Morgan Neville produced a documentary, “Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain,” interviewing Bourdain’s family and culinary contemporaries, including David Chang and Emeril Lagasse. After A24 announced the making of the “Tony” biopic last August, it was widely reported by Variety and others that “The Holdovers” breakout star Dominic Sessa was in talks to portray Bourdain and that A24 was in talks with Matt Johnson to direct.
