We’re in the lead-up to The Valley’s second season, and if you thought season one was filled with drama, then get ready for what’s happening off the show before we even get to see season two. Brittany Cartwright, who filed for divorce during filming, responded to her ex Jax Taylor’s cocaine-addiction admission on March 4. The same day, Brittany gave a righteous statement to People about what’s been going on in their family “over the years. ”

“I’m glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” she stated. “For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family. I’ve tried desperately to help him without success. I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum.”

Cartwright and Taylor share a 3-year-old son, Cruz, from their four-year marriage. “Jax has caused an enormous amount of damage and I have very little trust in him at this point,” Cartwright concluded. “My only hope is that one day, he will be a better person for his son.”

Taylor admitted to his addiction in a March 4 episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. “I have substance issues — primarily with cocaine,” he said. “I’ve been dealing with this on and off since I was 23, and now I’m 45. There was times where I would stop doing it but then there were times where I’d go heavy on it.” Taylor says he’s currently sober. “I can’t do cocaine without drinking,” he explained. “So I just gave up both. I’m proud to say I’m 83 days sober right now, which is the longest I’ve ever gone in my life without either.” The couple has been broken up since January 2024, and Brittany filed for divorce in August. Season two of The Valley doesn’t have a release date yet, but Bravo did post a teaser on February 3 in which Brittany says “Jax and I are still co-parenting and then all hell broke loose.”
