Braxton Berrios goes from Dolphins to Texans in free agency

Braxton Berrios, who spent the past two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, is off to Houston.

Berrios agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Texans on Monday afternoon, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus, minutes after free agency opened across the NFL at noon.

Berrios, a former University of Miami standout, was a slot receiver and return specialist for the Dolphins, but he suffered a torn ACL in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 20, ending his 2024 season prematurely.

From the Dolphins perspective, Berrios was expendable, as the team drafted a slot receiver with similar qualities in the return game in the sixth round of last year’s draft, Malik Washington. Washington predominantly took over on punt returns and saw more action in the passing game as last season went on.

Over the past two seasons in Miami, Berrios collected 27 receptions for 238 yards and a touchdown.

He had spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the New York Jets before joining Miami to be what was expected to be a complementary piece next to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Berrios is in a relationship with star social media influencer Alix Earle and often appears in her posts and videos.
