Bayern Munich’s warhorse, Thomas Müller has played his final game for his only club. Or has he? Jamal Musiala, the prodigal Bayern attacker, expected to replace Müller has undergone a severe injury against Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup. With several departures in the attacking department, the question arises whether the club should extend Müller for another six months. However, Müller has, for the time being, put that question to rest out of respect for his teammate.
In the post game interview (@DAZN_DE via @iMiaSanMia) after the game against PSG, Thomas Müller was asked whether a further stint of 6 months was possible, in light of Musiala’s injury. He replied, “I understand why you ask this question, but It’s a bit – I’m not saying tasteless – but it feels uncomfortable to me.”
Although, the time will soon come when a call of this nature has to be made by the management and the player himself. However, like Müller said, it is too soon for a player to answer whether he would replace his teammate who is currently in agonising pain and trauma.
