Barcelona debutants speak after memorable win vs Vissel Kobe – ‘First chance and it went right in’

Barcelona’s pre-season got off to the perfect start in Japan on Sunday when Hansi Flick’s side locked horns with Vissel Kobe after a highly controversial set of days.

The game, which was initially expected to be cancelled, worked out at the nth moment, and Barcelona did indeed make their first appearance of the season against Andres Iniesta’s former club.

In the end, the scoreline reflected a 3-1 win for Barcelona, with the second half being a joy to behold. Eric Garcia opened the scoring, and debutants Roony Bardghji and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez scored the other goals for the club en route to the special win.

Speaking to the media after the game, ‘Dro’, who scored on his debut, commented on his feelings and shared his excitement without holding back.

“It was my first match with the best club in the world, and I was very nervous. Talking with Hansi calmed me down a bit, my teammates. I’m grateful for their confidence!”

Elaborating on how it felt to have celebrated his first goal for the club in his very first appearance, rather his first chance on goal, Dro stated that the feeling was exhilarating.

Furthermore, Jofre Torrents, the young academy left-back who also made his debut on the night, was the next player to share his two cents with the media.

He began by speaking on how he describes himself as a player and his strengths and weaknesses as a defender.

“I define myself as a pretty good full-back, I can break through several lines with the ball, and I think I’m a very reliable full-back, even though there are obviously many things that can be improved,” he said.

Torrents was also asked to explain his emotions after what was a very big moment for him. After all, not many players are fortunate enough to debut for the first team after years of rigorous training in the academy.

“This is a dream. I struggled to get here, and in this pre-season period, we’ll see if I can get more opportunities.”

“Making it to the first team would be a dream. Since I was young and became a Barcelona fan, this has been my dream,” he added.
