BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Atlanta Braves have won the Speedway Classic.
The game finished with a 4-2 score, sending the Braves home to Atlanta with the win.
The Speedway Classic was the first Major League Baseball game ever played in Tennessee, welcoming fans from across the country to Bristol Motor Speedway for the historic event.
There were over 91,000 tickets sold, breaking the MLB regular-season attendance record.
Will Little, a graduate of Science Hill, served as the home plate umpire during the game. In the postgame press conference, Little mentioned that emotions ran high for him and his family when he was chosen for this role in the Speedway Classic.
“I never saw this ever being a possibility.”
