It’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in WWE, but Aleister Black made his long-awaited return to the company tonight on SmackDown.
For the last several weeks on SmackDown, there have been vignettes airing teasing the return of Black without mentioning him by name. Last week, a vignette revealed he would return tonight, and that he did.

Tonight on SmackDown, The Miz went to the ring and complained about other people getting opportunities they don’t deserve. Miz said he’s tired of being disrespected. This led to the return of Aleister Black, complete with his original NXT theme. Miz tried to speak and got laid out with Black Mass.
The former AEW star hadn’t been seen on WWE programming since 2021. But he hasn’t competed in a WWE ring since October 2020. Black lost a no-disqualification match against Kevin Owens on RAW before being drafted to SmackDown, where he would disappear from television for six months before being released in June.
