All Elite Wrestling is back on Mar. 9 with their annual Revolution PPV! The main card starts in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET, with a free streaming pre-show that starts 90 minutes earlier.
Seven titles will be on the line at Revolution, and the show will also feature a steel cage match and produce a new #1 contender for the World championship.
It’s a lot to process. But our motley crew is back to make predictions about the matches coming our way tonight from Crypto.com Arena, and muse about all things AEW along the way.
Let’s get to it.
AEW REVOLUTION PREDICTIONS
Jon Moxley (c) vs. Adam Copeland for the AEW World championship
Sean Rueter: This wasn’t the original plan I don’t think, and they’ll probably have to rearrange some things to account for it. But if there was ever time to audible off an angle, it’s the Death Riders. Pick: Cope
Claire Elizabeth: At this point all I want is for Eddie Kingston to be healthy and for Jon Moxley to get the come to Jesus talk from him that he so richly deserves, so I’m torn as far as what I want. As far as what I think happens, I think everybody’s expecting Switchblade to zag, but there’s something special about the pairing of him and Cope and I just really think Jay is gonna come through and the Rated R Superstar has what it takes to knock Moxley off his perch. Pick: Adam Copeland
Cain A. Knight: There are several younger babyfaces on the roster who are better choices to end Mox’s title reign. Cope is a dumbass for not injuring Wheeler Yuta, trusting Jay White, and changing his name to Cope. At least two of those factors will cause his downfall here. Pick: Jon Moxley
Manolo H. Pizzazz: I’m hoping Cope can put this Death Riders story to bed. If that fails, then the least Cope can do is to push Mox into becoming a badass again to breathe new life into the Death Riders saga going forward. Pick: Adam Copeland
Marcus Benjamin: I’m not picking Cope here if for no other reason than he’s not the guy to dethrone the champ. The person who beats Moxley gets a rep boost and instantly becomes a made guy. The guy formerly known as Edge has all that in spades. Moxley lives to fight another day but the dents in the armor start showing. Pick: Jon Moxley
Kyle Decker: I’m thinking that it’s Darby Allin taking the title off Jon Moxley at All In. So until July, that title stays on Jon Moxley. Cope either loses because Wheeler is too loyal, or my guess, Jay White betrays him. Pick: Jon Moxley
Timeless Toni Storm (c) vs. Mariah May for the AEW Women’s World title
Sean Rueter: This has been so good post-Timeless reveal that I wouldn’t complain about another title change and continuation. But this is a feud they can always come back to, and it’s probably best to leave us wanting that. Pick: Toni Storm
Claire Elizabeth: I don’t think Toni Storm’s curse of mediocrity is going to condemn Mariah May to a life unfulfilled, but I do think it shows that she means business and she’s not gonna let the title slip out of her hands again anytime soon. Anyway, the truly excellent leopard trimmed (and lined!) skirt suit Toni wore for the sitdown kicks the pants out of Mariah’s “half the girls I went to high school with” year 2000-ass outfit, so just from a moral standpoint I have to go with Storm here. Pick: Toni Storm
Cain A. Knight: Toni Storm is a star, so she might as well shine in the Hollywood Ending to this feud. Pick: Timeless Toni Storm
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Timeless won’t have pity on Mariah this time. Pick: Toni Storm
Marcus Benjamin: Toni isn’t losing this. The juice lies in how Mariah picks up the pieces rather than getting back her title. A fitting end to a trilogy that further cements Toni’s place in history. Pick: Toni Storm
Kyle Decker: There doesn’t seem to be a reason to put the title back on Mariah. Her story is more interesting if she moves on. They’re just making sure this return feud sees a PPV match. Pick: Timeless Toni Storm
Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW International championship
Sean Rueter: He still has another belt, and already has wins over The Best Bout Machine, so I don’t see any reason to deviate from what seems to be the larger plan here. Pick: Kenny Omega
Claire Elizabeth: There are a lot of guys running around in AEW who have a case to make that they had ought to be some champion or another, and Kenny Omega is one of them. Takeshita has been a great champion and he’s gotten a lot of big wins, but I don’t think the Best Bout Machine is gonna be one of em. Pick: Kenny Omega
Cain A. Knight: Omega is going to win the International championship so he can eventually have a title vs. title match against Okada at All In. Pick: Kenny Omega
Manolo H. Pizzazz: It’s time to push Omega like the star that he is. Pick: Kenny Omega
Marcus Benjamin: I mean, is Kenny really losing his big return match? He also needs vengeance and a new championship around his waist. Pick: Kenny Omega
Kyle Decker: Takeshita has impressive wins over Kenny Omega, but it’s time to reposition Kenny as a main event guy. Losing against to the Alpha doesn’t achieve that goal. Pick: Kenny Omega
Will Ospreay vs. Kyle Fletcher in a Steel Cage match
Sean Rueter: The Protostar is going to win a feud like this at some point to further establish him as the Randy Orton-meets-Grayson Waller-type he’s shown he can be in this feud. But not yet. Pick: Will Ospreay
Claire Elizabeth: Will needs to end this decisively in his favor because it feels like it’s gonna be done after this no matter who wins, and a conflicted Mark Davis might just be the solution for him. Pick: Will Ospreay
Cain A. Knight: It’s time for Will Ospreay to move on from the Don Callis family and do more important things in AEW. That means he needs to win this match. Pick: Will Ospreay
Manolo H. Pizzazz: It’s time to push Ospreay like the star that he is. Pick: Will Ospreay
Marcus Benjamin: It’s time for Will Ospreay to move to the next tier. He can’t do that while dealing with Don’s band of merry men. Moxley needs new challengers; younger challengers. This begins Will’s journey to become one of them. Pick: Will Ospreay
Kyle Decker: What I said about Kenny and Takeshita? That goes doubly for Will & Fletcher. Ospreay already talked about finishing up his business with the Callis Family so he can focus on the Death Riders. That almost makes this a foregone conclusion. Pick: Will Ospreay
Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Momo Watanabe the AEW TBS championship
Sean Rueter: This should be fun, but hopefully it’s the last of these relatively suspense-free showcase matches for The C.E.O. Pick: Mercedes Moné
Claire Elizabeth: As much as it frustrates me because of how flat her gimmick reskin has been and continues to be, Mercedes remains an absolute top tier talent in the ring and I simply do not believe that any outsider is gonna come in and knock her off her perch. Pick: Mercedes Mone
Cain A. Knight: Let’s hope it’s a banger, because the story behind this match is lacking. Pick: Mercedes Moné
Manolo H. Pizzazz: The Moné train isn’t stopping for someone who isn’t on the roster. Pick: Mercedes Moné
Marcus Benjamin: What Manolo said. Plain and simple. Pick: Mercedes Moné
Kyle Decker: I’m sure this will be really good. I’m sure there are fans of Stardom/joshi wrestling who are very excited for this. As someone who doesn’t follow it though, this feels like a match they’re going to need to get through before a challenger with a more of a chance to actually win the TBS title steps up. Pick: Mercedes Moné
The Hurt Syndicate (c) vs. The Outrunners for the AEW Tag Team titles
Sean Rueter: To quote Truth Magnum, “If you’re thinking what I’m thinking, and I know that I am”… The Outrunners are not beating Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin. Pick: The Hurt Syndicate
Claire Elizabeth: Oh my dear sweet retro babies. You fought hard to get here but you’re not going any further, because these men are here to hurt you. Pick: The Hurt Syndicate
Cain A. Knight: Revolution looks like an incredible card with great match after great match on the main card. This is the one match of the bunch where expectations are much lower, and I could even see it turning into a squash. Pick: The Hurt Syndicate
Manolo H. Pizzazz: The prediction is pain. Pick: Hurt Syndicate
Marcus Benjamin: I feel for the Outrunners. They’re a dope team with an incredible gimmick. These championships will rest in their hands one day, but today they get hurt. Pick: The Hurt Syndicate
Kyle Decker: The Outrunners are great, but they’re going up against a team that hurts people. That includes hurting our dreams of Outrunner gold. Pick: The Hurt Syndicate
MJF vs. Hangman Page
Sean Rueter: A great natural feud that feels like it has some legs… which is good, because I’m not sure either of these guys are in the World title picture for the next few months but will still need something high-profile to do as we head toward All In Texas. Pick: MJF
Claire Elizabeth: It has been truly wonderful to be reminded of what a top tier natural grade A scumbag Maxwell Jacob Friedman is when he’s not bogged down in endless retreading twisty-turny “won’t someone think of the programming and pull the plug on this” feuds, but Hanger is the main character, Hanger is real, and Hanger is gonna kick his ass and pick up the W here. Pick: “Hangman” Adam Page
Cain A. Knight: This is probably the most difficult match on the card to predict a winner. I’ll say their feud is stretched out for a bit, so MJF takes the first one. Pick: MJF
Manolo H. Pizzazz: This feud doesn’t have to be one and done. Since it is a standard match, MJF won’t need to be tougher than Hangman. He just has to be smarter. Pick: MJF
Marcus Benjamin: Hmm. This is a tough one. I’m actually going with MJF because there’s a lot more these two can do together. I don’t think AEW should waist it with just one match. Max cheats for the win, Hangman shows more righteous anger, and the beat continues. Pick: MJF
Kyle Decker: It is always extremely tough to pick against MJF. But Hangman is the one guy I feel confidence enough can win this that I will. Pick: Hangman Page
Swerve Strickland vs. Ricochet to determine the #1 contender for the AEW World championship
Sean Rueter: This is likely influenced by how impressed I’ve been with Ric’s heel character (and definitely influenced by my pick in the World title match above). It’s definitely influenced by my feeling that Swerve’s popularity will persist through a loss here, and my hope that there’s story to tell between him and Nana. Pick: Ricochet
Claire Elizabeth: If nothing else I refuse to countenance a world where Ricochet gets to keep strutting around with Nana’s robe on doing that stupid, stupid bird laugh of his. Pick: Shane “Swerve” Strickland
Cain A. Knight: Swerve is very likely getting his win back, especially after Ricochet pinned him again on this week’s Dynamite. That’s how reverse momentum theory works, after all. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Manolo H. Pizzazz: If Cope can’t get the job done against Moxley, then Swerve gives new hope to end the Death Riders story. Ricochet could be world champ some day, but I don’t see him taking down Moxley in their current characters. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Marcus Benjamin: If Swerve really wants to reclaim his title as the most dangerous man in AEW, then getting a championship match against the man who believes he holds that title, along with the actual world title, makes a lot of sense. That’s no diss to Ricochet either. The man is doing fantastic work and will definitely get rewarded for it one day. But not today. This is still Swerve’s house. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Kyle Decker: If it weren’t for the stipulation, I’d choose Ricochet. But another cowardly heel with a guaranteed title match (the other being Christian) doesn’t make sense. Pick: Swerve Strickland
Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Brody King for the AEW Continental title
Sean Rueter: We’ve got to get AEW’s big men out of their contenders-but-not-champions rut, but they’re not getting out of it here. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Claire Elizabeth: It would not surprise me to live in a world where Okada underestimates King and finds himself divested of the Continental Championship as a result, but I do not think we live in that world. Brody gives him a hell of a fight, but at the end of the night the Rainmaker will stand tall. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Cain A. Knight: Okada is going to retain the Continental championship so he can eventually have a title vs. title match against Omega at All In. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Manolo H. Pizzazz: The Rainmaker is an expert cheater. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Marcus Benjamin: As much as I’d love for Brody to get the W here, Okada retains for a larger battle down the road. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Kyle Decker: I am a big fan of Brody, but Okada isn’t losing to anyone who isn’t Kenny Omega any time soon. Pick: Kazuchika Okada
Orange Cassidy, Big Boom AJ & Mark Briscoe vs. Johnny TV & MxM Collection
Sean Rueter: I will probably laugh multiple times during this, and that’s the point. Pick: Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe & Big Boom AJ
Claire Elizabeth: Holy hell John Morrison still exists wow. Anyway yeah he’s gonna feel that boom. Pick: Big Boom AJ, Mark Briscoe, & Orange Cassidy
Cain A. Knight: Unlike everyone else in the match, Cassidy and Briscoe have actually wrestled on AEW Dynamite in 2025, so this one is a no-brainer. Pick: Mark Briscoe, Big Boom AJ & Orange Cassidy
Manolo H. Pizzazz: The sugar rush from a double chunk chocolate cookie will pick AJ up when a boost of energy is needed. Pick: Big Boom AJ, Orange Cassidy, & Mark Briscoe
Marcus Benjamin: Sigh. Well, since I have to pick. Pick: Mark Briscoe, Big Boom AJ, & Orange Cassidy
Kyle Decker: Here’s hoping for a Rizzler appearance. Pick: Big Boom AJ, Orange Cassidy, & Mark Briscoe
Chris Jericho (c) vs. Gravity for the ROH World championship
Sean Rueter: Since I don’t have much else to say about this, I’ll say that The Learning Tree gimmick has grown on me. Pick: Chris Jericho
Cain A. Knight: Old man Jericho loses against gravity a lot more than he used to, but he’s pretty much guaranteed to win this time. Pick: Chris Jericho
Manolo H. Pizzazz: I’m sure one of Jericho’s 1,004 holds is an answer for the laws of gravity. I’m betting on the Moss-Covered Three-Handled Family Gradunza to get the job done. Pick: Chris Jericho
Marcus Benjamin: This is hopefully a fun match since the territory added it in the eleventh hour. Pick: Chris Jericho
Daniel Garcia & Undisputed Kingdom vs. Shane Taylor Promotions
Sean Rueter: And since I don’t have much to say about this one either, I’ll pose a question… has a wrestler ever been cooled off by a gimmick more than Adam Cole by “The Devil”? HIs injury was undoubtedly a factor, but… yeesh. This guy main event-ed at Wembley less than two years ago. Pick: Daniel Garcia & Undisputed Kingdom
Cain A. Knight: If Shane Taylor or his allies are wrestling on AEW programming, it’s almost always wise to pick their opponents to win. Pick: Daniel Garcia & Undisputed Kingdom
Manolo H. Pizzazz: Garcia and Adam Cole will be able to coexist against a common enemy. Pack: Daniel Garcia & Undisputed Kingdom
Marcus Benjamin: More fuel for the fire between Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole. They win, but the embers keep burning. Pick: Daniel Garcia & Undisputed Kingdom
That’s who we’ve got. Who are you taking, Cagesiders?
