The Washington Commanders have agreed to terms with their first free agent during the NFL’s legal tampering period. New York Jets DT Javon Kinlaw has reportedly agreed to a 3-year, $45 million contract with $30 million guaranteed. Washington was in the market for defensive linemen after their expected release of DT Jonathan Allen. General manager Adam Peters was with the San Francisco 49ers when Kinlaw was drafted with the 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft.
Kinlaw had the most productive season of his career with the Jets, starting all 17 games. He had the most forced fumbles(2), sacks(4.5), combined tackles(40), and tackles for loss(8) in his career on a team that was going nowhere last year. He now joins a team on the rise that made the NFC Championship game, but needs major upgrades on the defensive side of the ball.
