Saturday Night Live‘s favorite comedy piñata just took a couple more hits.
Colin Jost was once again the subject of some good-natured ridicule while sitting behind the Weekend Updates desk. And as usual, he took it like a champ.
Instead of the usual premeditated attack from Michael Che, Jost was mocked by fellow SNL castmate Mikey Day, who poked fun at his marriage to Scarlett Johansson while in character as Lord Gaga, the fictional husband of host and musical guest Lady Gaga.
Decked out in a frock and rocking some Bridgerton-esque sideburns, Lord Gaga voiced support for his famous bride, while also taking time to clear up some rumors about their relationship.
“I had no idea there was a Lord Gaga,” Jost said.

“Of course there is,” Day replied. “How do you think she became a lady? She married a lord. That’s how she became Gaga, whereas I was simply ‘Born This Way.'”
Assuring Jost that their relationship is no “Bad Romance,” Lord Gaga expressed amusement at the thought of Lady Gaga’s career being lucrative, sharing that he simply sees it as a hobby — and pointing out that it couldn’t possibly make her more money than his career in textiles. Then the sketch took a turn, with Lord Gaga freaking out at the mere concept of a wife making more money than her husband.
“Can you imagine, Colin, a man whose wife makes more money than he?” Day said with exaggerated disbelief, prompting laughter from the studio audience. “Can you imagine? Oh, the shame he would feel!”
At that point, Jost — whose wife has been named one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood — acknowledged the meta commentary by turning slowly to face the camera, with the audience laughing on as Day continued his incredulous rant.
“Imagine, Colin, if I were sitting here on television behind this desk, staring at that camera, the world staring back at me knowing that my wife’s income dwarfs my own! I would die,” he declared, as Jost struggled to maintain a straight face. “Oh, I would die! What a living nightmare! What a nightmare!”

Recovering, Lord Gaga then said, “Oh, I’m sorry. Now tell me, what does your wife do?”

Jost then abruptly wrapped up the segment, missing out on his chance to tell Lord Gaga about his wife’s work in such successful franchises as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Jurassic Park (with Jurassic World Rebirth releasing in July). But if the audience’s laughter proves anything, it’s that everyone else in the room was very much in on the joke.
