The New England Patriots kick-started the free agency blitz on Sunday by reportedly agreeing in principle on a deal with former Pro Bowl linebacker Harold Landry III.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the contract will be a three-year deal for $46.5 million with $26 million in guaranteed money.
The Tennessee Titans agreed to allow Landry to seek a trade back in February, and it seemed likely from the very beginning that the Patriots would show interest.
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was the head coach for the Titans when the team selected the veteran defender in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft.

Landry is one of the more highly-productive and consistent linebackers in the league. He racked up 71 tackles, nine sacks, four pass deflections and a safety in 2024. That performance came on the heels of back-to-back double-digit sack seasons.
This move is an impressive start to the Vrabel era for the rebuilding Patriots, and it’s likely only the tip of the iceberg for a team that has a lot of money to spend and plenty of holes to fill.
