Duquesne Light: Restoration expected to take 5 to 7 days after ‘unprecedented’ storm

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey was joined by the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Public Works and Duquesne Light to give an update on the response to Tuesday’s storm.Duquesne Light called the magnitude of storm damage ‘unprecedented.’ The company does not have a full assessment at this time, and may not have one until Thursday morning.WE ARE TRACKING THE LATEST ON THE STORMDespite this, John Hilderbrand II, Vice President of Operations at Duquesne Light, said they are expecting five to seven days of restoration. Estimated times of restoration will come down at the county-level and move down to individual areas as it becomes available. Mayor Ed Gainey said there are 400 additional crews headed to the area, and 70 already called in to aid Duquesne Light.”We know that it’s going to take time. We want to make it as quick as possible,” Gainey said. “We are asking the people of the city to bear with us for a little bit. I know it’s an inconvenience. We also acknowledge safety is paramount.” During Wednesday’s press conference, Gainey asked everyone in the city who can stay home, to do so as cleanup around the city continues. Those who need to charge their phone in Allegheny County can visit the following Recreation Center locations: Ammon 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.Brookline 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Jefferson 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.Magee 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.Paulson 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.Ormsby 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.Warrington 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.West Penn 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. According to Public Works, there are 180 downed trees across Pittsburgh.
