ATP Madrid Day 6 Predictions Including Jack Draper vs Matteo Berrettini

Day 6 at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid will feature the end of Round 3, with several big names in action and some very juicy matchups on the agenda. It is sure to be another great day of tennis in the Spanish capital.

ATP Madrid Day 6 Predictions

Grigor Dimitrov vs Jacob Fearnley

Head-to-head: first meeting

Dimitrov suffered a humiliating 6-0 6-0 defeat against De Minaur at Monte Carlo but he bounced back nicely here with a first match win over Jarry and now has, at least on paper, a good draw to keep advancing further. Fearnley has been making some progress but so far he has shown no signs of being able to compete with Top 20 players, let alone on clay.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 2

Tommy Paul vs Karen Khachanov

Head-to-head: Paul 1-0 Khachanov

Paul has been struggling ever since his heartbreaking loss to Zverev in Australia, but he notched a nice win over João Fonseca in his first match here. Khachanov, as always, has been quite inconsistent, capable of great performances but also very disappointing ones. All things considered, it should be a very close match, decided by fine margins.

Alex De Minaur vs Denis Shapovalov

Head-to-head: De Minaur 4-0 Shapovalov

This is pretty much a battle of concepts, with Shapovalov’s big, powerful, flashy tennis clashing against De Minaur’s unwavering consistency. While the Canadian won the Wimbledon Boys’ final in 2016, on the pro tour it has been one way traffic on favour of De Minaur so far.

That said, Shapovalov has been having a good season, showing some signs of progress, and on the fast altitude clay of Madrid he might just put together the level required for an upset here.

Prediction: Shapovalov in 3

Jack Draper vs Matteo Berrettini

Head-to-head: Draper 2-0 Berrettini

Draper is in the best moment of his career, having recently won his first Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells and reached his highest ranking so far. Berrettini has been making progress himself as well, though, and these conditions should suit him very well, after all he is a former Madrid finalist.

Like their previous two encounters, both in the last year, this should be a very tight match and it could well go Berrettini’s way this time around.

Prediction: Berrettini in 3
