BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) — ESPN’s Field Yates is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have once again restructured the contract of quarterback Deshaun Watson.
According to the report, the move creates nearly $36 million in salary cap space for Cleveland in 2025.
Watson is expected to miss the majority — if not all — of the 2025 season after suffering a second ruptured Achilles during the offseason.
The new NFL league year begins on Wednesday March 12. That is when free agent signings and trades can be made official.
The latest contract restructure gives Cleveland around $13 million in free space to work with according to OverTheCap.com.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Browns have now paid out of the vast majority of Watson’s original 5-year, $230 million deal. The report says all that remains is a minimum salary this season and a $46 million salary in 2026.
